The Golden Bridge Awards are presented annually to the most successful Belgian and Luxembourg companies exporting to or trading in the UK. Sarens, the global leader in crane rental services and heavy lifting, has been awarded the Golden Bridge Award for Carbon Reduction 2023. Sarens was recognised for our commitment to sustainable practices and innovative solutions. Sarens always stands at the forefront of the renewable energy sector, providing intelligent solutions to heavy lifting challenges.
Sarens is dedicated to a comprehensive carbon strategy aligned with global climate goals. The company’s focus on minimising its carbon footprint is evident in its environmentally responsible practices, addressing both direct and indirect emissions. Sarens has achieved a groundbreaking milestone with the creation of the world’s first Green Giant Crane, the SGC-90. This innovative crane is not only capable of connecting to the electric grid but also generates its own energy. Crafted entirely in-house, the SGC-90 stands out for its remarkable qualities, operating in near silence, emitting no exhaust, and presenting no risk of oil contamination.
In a strategic move towards sustainability, Sarens has joined forces with NuScale to collaborate on zero-emission projects in the realm of clean nuclear energy throughout the United States. Positioned at the forefront of the energy transition, a substantial portion of Sarens’ current projects involves working with clients in offshore and onshore wind, nuclear energy, and hydrogen. The company’s commitment to environmental responsibility is evident in the installation of over 1,000 wind turbines on solid ground, with ongoing efforts to contribute to these sectors each day. This award highlights Sarens’ remarkable dedication to reducing carbon emissions and fostering sustainability globally.
While collecting the award, Sarens Group Commercial Director, Projects, Yannick Sel says: “We are thrilled to receive this award, which we regard as a recognition of Sarens’ vision to accelerate the energy transition. This vision is being powered by the entire Sarens staff, starting with our R&D team who are engineering solutions in close cooperation with our sales staff and customers, enabling them to realise their goals. This team effort continues all the way through to our committed onsite teams who deliver these wonderful projects. This award is a great boost to us all and gives us the motivation to keep pushing towards a carbon-free future.”
Michel Vanhoonacker, Chairman of the Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Great Britain and of the Golden Bridge Jury 2023 commented: “Sarens has a very long and successful presence in the UK market which is proof of their commitment to this important market. Moreover, they have been able to adapt to an ever-changing environment and explore new market segments such as windfarms. Even though Sarens has limited ways to reduce their own carbon footprint due to many practical constraints, they are an important contributor in reducing the carbon footprint of the UK whilst finding ways to make lifting heavy stuff greener every day.”
