June 10 - NYK has taken delivery of a new pure car carrier, Aries Leader, which was built by Shin Krushima Dockyard at its Onishi Shipyard in Japan.
In addition to a 7,000 ceu capacity, the new carrier includes the latest energy-saving technology such as an air-lubrication system, a hybrid turbocharger and an electronically controlled engine.
As a result, NYK expects a significant reduction in carbon dioxide emissions per unit compared with existing large pure car carriers.
Aries Leader has an overall length of 199.98 m, breadth of 35.8 m, designed draft of 37.7 m and a gross tonnage of 69,931 tonnes.
NYK claims that the vessel is the first post-Panamax car carrier in Japan.
