Volga-Dnepr have so far airlifted eight shipments carrying 550 tonnes of relief supplies from various international government organisations to Pakistan, including two helicopters from Russia and aid from Germany, Turkey, the UK, Sweden and Italy. Further flights to Pakistan are scheduled to take place in the coming weeks.
The devastating floods in Pakistan, which began in the mountainous northwest some four weeks ago with the onset of monsoon rains, have already claimed more than 1,600 lives and destroyed over one million homes.
