XLP network (XLP) member International Freight Transport has coordinated the delivery of two airport bridges and their components from Port Everglades, Florida, USA, to the port of Oranjestad, Aruba.
Shipped in as breakbulk units and four flat racks, each 22.2-tonne load measured 7 m long, 1.4 m wide and 1.4 m high.
The operation was coordinated between small carriers and various other parties. The project was hit by various setbacks, including a loaded truck catching on fire, a crash, and the breakdown of another loaded truck.
Customs clearance was completed in haste due to the short transit window to the port of Oranjestad.
