Volga-Dnepr Airlines has delivered a 38-ton (34.5-tonne) crankshaft from Mexico to India on its Ilyushin IL-76TD-90VD aircraft.
On behalf of DHL Global Forwarding, the crankshaft was shipped from Apodaca in Nuevo León to Mumbai. The packaged machinery measured 7 m in length.
Within 12 hours of receiving the request, Volga-Dnepr developed several loading and packaging options for the customer.
The IL-76TD-90VD freighter is equipped with onboard cranes and winches that were used to load of the oversized unit.
