Earlier this year, United Wind Logistics (UWL) transported 20 foundation monopiles from Rostock, Germany to Taichung, Taiwan for the Formosa 1 Phase 2 offshore wind farm.
On behalf of Jan de Nul Group, UWL utilised two chartered heavy transport vessels to move the cargoes to Taichung, where they were offloaded using SPMTs.
UWL was responsible for the sea transportation and engineering, as well as the design, fabrication and installation of transport cradles and sea fastenings. This was completed in association with its sister company, United Engineering Solutions.
As HLPFI reported here, the monopiles departed the EEW special pipe construction yard in Rostock during April.
Construction of the wind farm, which is located 3 km off the coast of Miaoli, is on track to be completed in 2019.
