China Nuclear Engineering Group Corporation (CNEC) commissioned Sarens to perform a heavy lift operation at the SECCO chemical plant, China, one of the largest chemical plants in Shanghai that is currently undergoing modernisation.
On a site with operational constraints and surrounded by other chemical plants, the CC8800-1 crane, which has a lift capacity of 1,600 tonnes, has been used to remove and replace an old tower and install a new one.
The first lift removed the upper section of old column which weighed 270 tonnes and the subsequent lift removed the bottom section. Then the crane was used to install the new tower measuring 68 m in height and weighing 400 tonnes.
According to Xiaofei Zhang, who was responsible for the project: “The adjustable superlift radius and excellent lifting capacity of CC8800-1 [crane] has made the project smooth and swift.”
The CC8800-1 is one of the largest cranes in the Sarens fleet, introduced by Sarens-Sinotrans JV (SSJV) to the Chinese market in September 2018. It took eight days to assemble, using one 220 tonne truck crane and one 400 tonne crawler crane.
Sarens and Sinotrans Heavy-lift Logistics Company entered a joint-venture partnership in June 2015 to offer Chinese customers heavy lifting and engineered transport services.
