On behalf of Vestas, Swire Projects delivered wind turbines from China to Bluff, New Zealand, for the Kaiwera Downs wind farm (Stage 1).
The Kaiwera Downs wind farm is being erected near Gore in the South Island of New Zealand. It consists of 10 V136 Vestas wind turbines. For the transport of components, Swire Projects utilised its recently chartered vessel Pacific Humility.
One of three 28,000 dwt H-class vessels in Swire Projects’ fleet, Pacific Humility was able to handle all 10 wind turbines in a single shipment.
Swire Projects is the projects and heavy lift shipping services division of Swire Shipping. The three 28,000 dwt vessels – Pacific Humility, Pacific Honour and Pacific Hero – joined its fleet on a long-term basis last year from shipowner R. Braren.
