China-based Sinotrans Heavy-Lift Logistics – a subsidiary of logistics company Sinotrans – has moved a 7,500-tonne hotel on 254 Scheuerle SPMT axle lines in Sanya, China.
The building measured 90 m long, 35 m wide and 20 m high.
A particular challenge was the building’s uneven weight distribution, due to its asymmetrical architecture. Sinotrans’ team had to accurately level and position the building in order to distribute the weight for safe transport.
For the move, Sinotrans positioned Scheuerle SPMTs at different angles to each other to form a fan-shaped combination. After that, it took eight hours to lift the structure and then transport it 500 m to its final destination. A total of 15 power pack units (PPU) drove the vehicle combination.
