Amsterdam-headquartered Sevenstar Yacht Transport has completed delivery of a yacht and a catamaran, the former moved from Southampton, UK, to Palma de Mallorca, Spain, and the latter from Rauma, Finland, to Gibraltar.

The 60 ft (18.3 m) sailing yacht Ama was transported to Palma de Mallorca in September 2024, after its owner was having growing concerns about yacht safety while navigating the Portuguese and Spanish coasts, where orca whale encounters have become an increased hazard.

“I chose to use yacht transport to avoid the risk of incidents with orcas,” said Andrea, the yacht’s owner. “I selected Sevenstar because of a positive previous experience with another transport in 2022.”

Ocean Explorer 62, a 72 ft (21.9 m) sailing catamaran, was transported from Finland to Gibraltar a month prior, during August 2024.

“We booked the transportation in February with a pickup window in August, anticipating potential delays. As the delivery date approached, it became clear the yacht wouldn’t be ready on time,” said the manager of the catamaran. “We were very happy with the entire process, especially the communication during a difficult time of having to move dates due to shipyard delays.”

Both Andrea and the catamaran’s manager praised Leroy Ubbink, Sevenstar’s representative in Palma de Mallorca, who was chiefly responsible for both moves.

In November 2024, HLPFI reported that Jay ‘Woody’ Durham was to retire from Sevenstar, following 16 years with the company.
