HLPFI is pleased to announce that Sarens has won the Project of the Year award, sponsored by Fesco Projects, for its Soderstrom Railway Bridge project in Getingmidjan, at the Heavy Lift Awards 2020.
Sarens’ bridge replacement project in Sweden included the sea transfer of bridge sections from Tallinn, Estonia, receiving old bridge parts on barges and shipping them from Stockholm to Vasteras, and finally the installation of the new sections in central Stockholm. The bridge shutdown was limited to eight weeks, meaning extraordinary planning was required to complete this project on time.
In a very competitive category, Sarens’ project encompassed extreme complexity and excellent engineering. The importance of a critical time frame – given that any delay could impact a whole city – meant this was an impressive project. It demonstrated that combined and coordinated techniques – both wet and dry – supported by proper engineering capabilities, and the employment of different equipment, can lead to excellent installation solutions.
HLPFI would also like to thank everyone that entered this year’s Project of the Year award, and say a massive well done to the other finalists in this category – deugro, RTL, Mammoet, Fagioli, Tschudi Logistics and Logistics Plus.
