Sarens has deployed its 1,600-tonne capacity Demag CC 8800-1 crawler crane to lift a 425-tonne urea reactor for the Ramagundam fertiliser plant project in India.
To aid with the construction of the new ammonia and urea plant, Sarens transported the lattice boom crawler crane from Greece to Mumbai, where the components were offloaded and transported to the project site on trucks.
The Demag CC 8800-1 was assembled using a 600-tonne capacity Demag CC 2800-1 crawler crane. Once operational, the crane lifted the reactor – which measured 53 m in length and 3.8 m in diameter – and moved the component to its final position.
The CC 8800-1 will now complete five more heavy lifts at the site, with components weighing up to 640 tonnes.
