Sarens replaced a prestressed concrete bridge with a new curved steel bowstring structure at Bettembourg train station in Luxembourg.
After more than a week of work, which involved the demolition of the old bridge, the new structure was installed.
The 148 m-long structure had a main arch span of 80.3 m and an arch height of 22.5 m. The steel framework weighed 1,300 tonnes. The supporting mechanism, specifically designed for this operation, allowed the new bridge to be installed between the catenaries.
Last month, Sarens completed a lift for Lithuania’s railway integration, transferring a locomotive from the old-type carriage chassis to a European-type carriage chassis as part of the rail Baltica initiative.
