Germany-based SAL Heavy Lift will deliver 95 XXL monopiles that will be installed at the East Anglia THREE project.
The East Anglia THREE project is an offshore wind farm in the UK. SAL Heavy Lift is tasked with transporting the monopiles, which collectively weigh just shy of 2,000 tonnes, from Fene and Bilbao, Spain, to Flushing, the Netherlands.
Using its Zhong Ren 121 and 122 vessels, SAL has opted for its lashless seafastening system, which proposes to cut loading and unloading times while removing disposable materials. For the delivery, the vessels will also feature custom grillage and seafastening designs to enhance their security, meeting rules and standards set out by DNV.
Earlier this month, Dominik Stehle was appointed managing director of SAL Heavy Lift.
