Tower sections for the USA’s Revolution Wind offshore wind farm have arrived at the port of New London’s State Pier Terminal onboard Roll Group’s heavy transport vessel RollDock Storm.

Revolution Wind, located 32 miles (51.5 km) southeast of Connecticut’s coastline is the US state’s first commercial offshore wind farm. It will feature 65 turbines, with more components including blades, nacelles and additional towers arriving at the port of New London throughout the year for assembly and marshalling.

To deliver the tower sections, RollDock Storm was escorted by tugs from Thames Towboat

Revolution Wind is expected to be completed by 2025. The project will have an installed capacity of 704 MW from 65 turbines; 304 MW of power will be delivered to Connecticut and 400 MW to Rhode Island. It was being developed by Ørsted and Eversource, although the latter agreed to sells its 50 percent stake in the development to Global Infrastructure partners in February 2024.
