Red Wolf Global (RWG) has moved a 10.2-tonne yacht overland approximately 2,000 km from Phuket to the Ocean Marina Yacht Club in Pattaya on the Gulf of Siam, Thailand.
The yacht, named Wild Thing, measured 11.4 m in length, 2.93 m wide and 3.4 m in height.
The RWG team encountered some initial difficulties in Phuket as the transport cradle was unsuitable for both the shape and weight of the yacht. RWG was forced to build a second customised cradle to complete the job.
“Compounding the stress was the fact that all of this was taking place over a holiday period, so quick arrangement was more difficult,” said David Hitchcock of RWG.
A 75-tonne lifting capacity mobile boat hoist was used to lift Wild Thing from its stand and position it on a trailer. A Hino 700 prime mover was used to complete the 2,000 km road haul to Pattaya.
Upon arrival at the Ocean Marina Yacht Club, a Volvo FL10 prime mover was used to move the yacht through the marina. An 80-tonne hydrostatic drive hoist was then used to transfer the boat from the trailer into the water.
“Red Wolf Global was pleased to be able to make this interesting move, which was a fairly long distance for overland moves of yachts and boats,” added Hitchcock.
