Sri Lanka-based freight forwarder Projects FPS has transported a gas turbine and a gas turbine generator for the Sobadhanavi 350 MW LNG power plant in Kerawalapitiya, Sri Lanka.
The gas turbine weighed 318 tons (288 tonnes) and the gas turbine generator weighed 317 tons (287 tonnes).
Projects FPS unloaded the cargo at the port of Colombo’s New North Pier ready for onward transportation to the power station.
The freight forwarder’s scope included port handling; arranging temporary storage; a double-bank operation from heavy lift vessel to barge; Customs clearance; liaising with the tug and barge port agency; facilitation of local tug boats for the tow of the barge; and ro-ro operations.
