Marine contractor and logistics company Osprey Group has delivered polar crane beams for a second reactor building at Hinkley Point C in Somerset, UK.
The 44 m-long polar crane beams were delivered to Hinkley Point C after travelling by sea, river and road. Osprey used tugs, a barge, a heavy crane and SPMTs to complete the delivery.
The beams are a part of the second reactor building’s polar crane, which will be used to install heavy equipment during construction, such as the reactor and steam generators. It will also be used for refuelling and maintenance, once the power station – owned by EDF – is operational.
HLPFI reported earlier this month that Modulift had supplied bespoke lifting systems at Hinkley Point C.
