Laso Transportes has concluded two projects having transported all the components for the Monte Becerril y Salguero wind farm in Spain and completing the delivery of a large reservoir to Estarreja, Portugal.
Involving more than 40 specialised movements, Laso transported eight complete wind turbines. Towers were loaded at Aranda de Duero, while more sensitive components such as nacelles and blades were loaded at Castellón.
Some of the components measured more than 80 m long and weighed around 100 tonnes, so both technical planning and communication between Laso’s engineering, operations, commercial and logistics departments were crucial to ensure safe and timely deliveries.
“Working on this type of project is always challenging. Every curve, every gradient and every narrow road represent obstacles that we have to overcome with precision and experience,” said the person in charge of this project.
Meanwhile, last month Laso completed the transportation of a 5 m-high reservoir in Portugal following detailed planning spanning a year. With a total length of 23 m and a diameter of 7 m, a lowered unit was used to move the tank. Winding roads meant that infrastructure was adjusted along the way, along with police escort operations and pilot vehicles on hand throughout.
Last month, Laso transported a generator from the port of Funchal to Paúl da Serra, both on the island of Madeira.
