Laso Transportes has utilised Goldhofer THP/SL heavy-duty modular trailers to deliver a 300-tonne power plant component from Vale de Cambra to the port of Leça da Palmeira (Portugal), some 60 km away.
Narrow curves, crossings, and roundabouts had to be negotiated, as did bridges and tunnels with weight and height limits. These factors made the relatively short journey particularly challenging.
To ensure that the huge component, which measured 70 m x 5.6 m x 5.3 m, could be delivered to the port without any major detours, the transport solution had to offer maximum flexibility, the lowest possible deadweight, and minimum overall height.
Laso used two six-axle THP/SL heavy-duty modules to perform the move. Engineers had already prepared road studies accurate to the millimetre and an optimum route was found. This made it possible to prepare individual sections of the route in good time – for example, by removing traffic lights – while organising escort convoys and police barriers on schedule.
The power plant component was successfully moved over the course of two nights.
