Laso Transportes has successfully delivered two large bridges from Oliveira de Frades to the port of Aveiro, Portugal, which were then delivered to the port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
Manufactured by Portugal-based construction company Martifer, each bridge measured approximately 50 m in length. Because of their size, transport required the use of a tower adapter, allowing for hydraulic adjustment to the width of the cargo, which in turn enables more complex manoeuvres.
The dimensions and weight of the bridges meant that preparing roads ahead of the move was crucial, and rigorous planning – including coordination with local authorities – was carried out by Laso beforehand. The transport had to be carried out at night to avoid road congestion while ensuring that port operations at the port of Aveiro were not disrupted.
