Kübler, working with the Speyer and Sinsheim technology museums, transported a 330-tonne submarine from Speyer to Sinsheim, Germany in around 30 minutes.

On loan from the German navy, the submarine will be made accessible to the public in the Sinsheim Technology Museum and preserved for posterity.

The total weight of the transport amounted to 529 tonnes and a length of 74.5 m.

The journey began on the road to the natural harbour of Speyer, continued by pontoon on the Rhine and Neckar to Haßmersheim and finally led back by road to the destination Sinsheim.

According to Kübler, the final road section of 48 km was particularly challenging and took two weeks due to bridges and narrow villages.

Due to its 12 m height, the submarine could not be transported upright in every location. The solution was a special turning device that made it possible to tilt the submarine by 73 degrees and turn it back to a vertical position for narrow places. This meant narrow places could be navigated, often with only a few cm of leeway. The submarine was turned 14 times on the route.

Last year, Kübler transported the submarine from Kiel to Speyer to be displayed outside Technik Museum Speyer
