Stevedoring company Portus has handled a diesel-powered generator, weighing approximately 331,000 lbs (150.1 tonnes), at the Port of Jacksonville (Jaxport), on behalf of UTC Overseas.
The generator, measuring 42.5 ft (13 m) long, arrived at Jaxport's heavy lift and speciality cargo berth at Blount Island Marine Terminal onboard Spliethoff's vessel Spaarnegracht.
The cargo, which according to Jaxport is valued at approximately USD3 million, was transported from Rauma, Finland and will be used to generate power for a hospital in Florida.
Portus transferred the generator from the vessel to a dockside eight-axle railcar for onward transportation to Tallahassee.
