The first of two jacket foundations have been successfully installed at the East Anglia One wind farm, located off the coast of Suffolk, UK.
Offshore contractor Van Oord transported the first foundation to the project site using its heavy lift vessel Bokalift One. The jackets were successful installed using a bespoke jacket lifting tool designed by Temporary Works Design (TWD).
Weighing just over 25 tonnes and with a lifting capacity of over 1,000 tonnes, the lifting tool was able to speed up the installation by lifting the 60 m-high jackets into place.
The remote-controlled jacket lifting tool is also adaptable to different flange diameters, which makes it suitable for use on future installation projects, said TWD.
