The port of Ipswich, part of Associated British Ports (ABP), has handled a 178-tonne transformer as part of a National Grid infrastructure project in Burwell.
Due to the port of Ipswich’s close proximity to the site in Burwell, ABP said that the distance travelled is was minimised, which in turn reduces transport costs.
Andy Constable, ABP head of operations in Ipswich, added: “Handling this large piece of equipment involved very close collaboration with our customers and agents and we are grateful for their support, which has helped make this operation a success.”
