Höegh Autoliners India has transported a 5.75 m high, 94.3-tonne mill shell from Mumbai, India to Dakar, Senegal using its direct ro-ro service.
Due to the weight of the cargo, Höegh was unable to utilise its 62 ft roll-trailer. In order to overcome this obstacle, Höegh collaborated with the manufacturer of the roll-trailer to design a customised solution to transport the cargo.
Using steel beams, placed under the mill shell, the weight of the load was distributed across the length of the roll-trailer.
The mill shell was subsequently loaded onto one of Höegh’s Post-Panamax vessels in Mumbai for onward transportation to Dakar.
