Höegh Autoliners has transported a shunt reactor from Jebel Ali, UAE, to Antwerp using its recently developed super-low roll trailer, designed to cater for higher breakbulk and project cargoes.
The shunt reactor was transported to Germany, via Antwerp, for repairs works utilising Höegh’s direct ocean service connecting the Middle East and Europe.
Standing at 4.38 m, the height of the unit posed a challenge for Höegh, as most of the vessels in the Middle East to Europe service have a door opening of approximately 5 - 5.2 m high.
To overcome this, Höegh deployed its super-low roll trailer that can accommodate cargoes up to 65.8 tonnes.
“The super-low roll trailers are only 0.47 m high and are designed to load breakbulk cargo that is 25 - 30 cm higher than what we were previously able to transport,” explained Geir Paulsen, head of global breakbulk solutions.
In addition to the super-low roll trailers, Höegh introduced its extended roll trailer and double-wide roll trailer ranges last year, designed to transport longer and wider cargo.
