Premier Global Logistics has coordinated the transport of three 35 m-long wind turbine blades from India to South Korea onboard Höegh Autoliners’ direct service from Ennore to Masan.
Höegh has extensive experience shipping long breakbulk units; it previously loaded a 28 m-long wind turbine component at Ennore. This latest shipment sets a new record at the port, said Höegh.
Captain Atuldutt Sharma, breakbulk sales manager, said: “For large sensitive cargoes, such as renewable energy equipment, our team of cargo handling specialists use their technical expertise to develop customised handling and engineering solutions.”
An advantage of using ro-ro vessels, Höegh continued, is that it minimises the amount of lifting required. For this project, the maximum height the cargo needed to be lifted was just 2 m.
