Dutch heavy lift shipping line BigLift Shipping has deployed its heavy lift vessel Happy Star to transport 11 tugs from Vietnam and China to Europe on behalf of Damen Shipyards.
The shipment was organised on just two months’ notice, departing Hạ Long Bay in Vietnam for Europe on April 4 and arriving in Vigo, Spain, 38 days later. Here, one vessel was offloaded before the Happy Star continued to Rotterdam with the remaining 10 tugs.
According to Damen, these mass deliveries do not take place often as it is rare that so many vessels are ready to be despatched at the same time. The last such event occurred in 2015 when Happy Star transported 22 vessels of various types on the same route.
