Hansa Meyer Global has delivered 21,000 freight tons of steel plant equipment from Europe, Mexico and Asia to Brandenburg, Kentucky.
US steel manufacturer Nucor is investing USD1.35 billion in the development of a plate mill in Kentucky. Over the past seven months, Hansa Meyer has handled more than 50 shipments in support of the development. The heaviest pieces tipped the scales at 93 tonnes, with the largest measuring 7.76 m x 6.96 m x 4.18 m.
The heavy cargoes, along with their accessories, were shipped in several lots up to New Orleans. Deck barges were used for onward delivery to Kentucky. General cargo was shipped primarily to Charleston, Savannah and Baltimore before being trucked to site.
