Höegh Autoliners has handled the shipment of a 400-tonne lifting capacity shore crane from the port of Ennore, India to port Freeport in the USA.
Utilising its Middle East and India to Americas service, Höegh provided a direct connection from India to the USA. This solution resulted in savings in transportation costs for the customer as it offered the minimum transit time, said Höegh Autoliners.
Due to its large dimensions, the crane was dismantled into 51 pieces for the transportation.
Atuldutt Sharma, breakbulk sales manager in India, explained: “Höegh’s cargo handling team was involved in the pre-shipment phase. This involved studying the packing and dimensions of the breakbulk units and finding the most suitable equipment to ensure full cargo optimisation on board the vessel.”
The loading operation involved the stuffing and lashing of each unit on to 12 of Höegh’s roll trailers.
