Foss Maritime has transported five barges, loaded with 498 utility trucks, to Ponce in Puerto Rico, as part of the ongoing effort to restore power to the island.
The shipment included bucket trucks, line trucks, pickups, aerial lifts, skid-steer loaders, digger derricks, and pull trailers from a coalition of 19 USA-based electric utility companies.
Two ocean-going tugs propelled the barges from Virginia and Lake Charles, USA to Ponce in under two weeks.
According to Foss, more than 1,000 line workers and other personnel have flown in to the meet the trucks to start work supporting the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) and the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to restore power.
