Fagioli has begun its marshalling yard operation scope for the Calvados offshore wind farm project.
Saipem contracted the Italian transport engineering specialist to handle the marshalling yard operations for the wind farm off the French coast earlier this year. The work involves the heavy transport, lifting, loading and offloading operations at the BOW Terminal in Vlissingen, the Netherlands.
So far, Fagioli has completed the engineering, design and study of several elements of the project, including the heavy haulage and lifting activities, steel transportation frames, and storage solutions. In addition, the company handled civil works for the yard preparations, including levelling, backfilling, and the construction of several sets of gravel dunes for the monopile storage.
Fagioli has since completed offloading of 64 monopiles and 64 transition pieces. For this scope, the company utilised two lattice boom crawler cranes – the 1,350-tonne capacity LR11350 and a 1,250-tonne capacity CC6800 – more than 100 axle lines of SPMTs; as well as its own monopile transportation saddles and transition piece handler systems.
In 2024, Fagioli will load the cargoes onto vessels ahead of the client’s offshore installation campaign.
