Volga-Dnepr Airlines has successfully completed the delivery of 21 tonnes of equipment to China on two charter flights originating from Orebro, Sweden.
Two of the airline’s IL-76TD-90VD freighters were loaded one after the other in order to expedite the project cargo shipment to China, which consisted of sensitive equipment measuring 6.7 m х 3.2 m х 2.75 m.
With two charter flights operating from the same airport, Volga-Dnepr said it was able to accelerate the delivery time by organising sequential loading procedures. This avoided having to dismantle the loading ramp between flights.
Volga-Dnepr also saved time by coordinating the loading and offloading of the cargoes with airport authorities and the customer’s representatives, obtaining flight permits for overflown countries, coordinating the aircraft arrival time, and ensuring availability of a mobile crane, pushback tugs and loading equipment.
The carrier said that these measures allowed it to decrease the overall loading time for both flights at their departure and arrival airports by six hours.
