Express Global Logistics (EXG) has completed a 1,929-km journey within India to deliver a 250-tonne transformer.

Measuring 10.2 m x 4.3 m x 4.6 m and due to its weight, intricate planning was required. An 18-axle hydraulic trailer was used to balance weight distribution and to reduce strain on road infrastructure throughout the journey.

Within its scope of work, EXG constructed three customised bypasses within India to overcome low-capacity bridges and sharp bends that would not otherwise be able to accommodate the transport vehicle. These solutions were constructed and completed within 15 days.

Transportation itself took around 30 days, yet the whole project was closer to 60 days. Challenges along the way included securing relevant documentation, as well as large crowds gathering near the bypasses during the cargo’s movement – which had to be carried out during the day.

EXG is a member to the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC), in India. Last month, the company transported more than 1,400 tonnes of cargo from China to India.
