State-of-the-art cancer treatment equipment, with a combined weight of nearly 200 tons (181.4 tonnes), has moved through the port of Jacksonville’s (Jaxport) Talleyrand Marine Terminal.
The proton therapy equipment, destined for the University of Florida Health Proton Therapy Institute in Jacksonville, was transported to Jaxport in three pieces from the port of Antwerp on board the Spliethoff general cargo vessel Snoekgracht.
Measuring between 12 ft (3.7 m) and 32 ft (9.8 m) in length, Jaxport said the equipment is worth approximately USD25 million.
Stevedoring company Patriot Ports discharged the cargo from the vessel on to multi-axle trailers on behalf of freight forwarder ABL Dissaco.
