deugro Thailand, in close cooperation with the local teams of deugro Malaysia and deugro Singapore, moved two reactors with a total volume of 1,155 cu m from Malaysia to a project site in Thailand.
The reactors will be used in a sustainable fuel production unit. The reactors had varying weights and dimensions, with unit weights of up to 341 tonnes and measurements of up to 39 m x 4.9 m x 4 m. They were received at Port Klang, Malaysia.
Within one day the reactors were safely loaded, stowed and secured in the lower hold of the BBC Seine.
The most challenging component moved was the 341 tonne reactor—the heaviest piece deugro Thailand has ever handled to date. The tandem lifting operation by the vessel’s own gear required a special shackle, which had to be arranged for in time.
“A further challenge was the weight limitations for the reactor at Laem Chabang Port in Thailand. The only terminal that could accept this weight had been booked out for several weeks. Therefore, we provided the client with the alternative port option of the Port of Map Ta Phut, which was confirmed just before the vessel’s departure from Port Klang,” said Rajvinder Singh, head of sales Thailand – project director, at deugro Thailand.
