Germany-headquartered Dako Worldwide Transport delivered a power plant from Europe to the Virgin Islands in the Caribbean, which will replace a system that was damaged by extreme weather.
In the latest issue of HLPFI, which you can see here, we reported that the redevelopment of damaged infrastructure following extreme weather events has been an source of project logistics work in the Caribbean region.
Dako transported three heavy generator sets weighing 150 tonnes each, plus supplementary equipment including a sophisticated gas exhaust cleaning system.
The cargo was delivered from Europe aboard a BBC Chartering vessel. Dako was also responsible for organising local port handling and transportation to the final project site, as well as positioning the oversize pieces on their foundations using a jack and slide system.
