Greece-based Cosmatos Group has shipped refinery equipment from Thessaloniki port to Hellenic Energy’s facility in Eleusis, Greece, as part of logistical work for oil and gas firm EKME.

Cosmatos, a member of the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC), was responsible for planning and execution of the project, including handling port operations, ro-ro and lo-lo operations, cargo securing and chartering a Greece-flagged ferry.

The shipment included a steam generator which measured 17.22 m x 4.91 m x 5.49 m and weighed 130 tonnes, with ro-ro operation via the ferry’s ramp the method of choice. Also within the shipment was a new top head of a flexicoker heater which measured 9.9 m x 9.9 m x 5.49 m and weighed 96 tonnes. Cosmatos opted for a lo-lo method using a mobile port crane to handle the item.

All equipment within the shipment reached Hellenic Energy’s facility in Eleusis efficiently and securely.

Last month, Cosmatos Shipping Services handle refinery equipment destined for Antwerp, Belgium.
