Spain-headquartered Coordinadora has been selected to complete logistics works for Navantia’s Windfloat Atlantic project.
Coordinadora will complete transport engineering, load out, dry towage and float off operations for the floating offshore wind turbine project.
In the summer of 2019, a Windfloat unit is scheduled for delivery to Fene Shipyard in La Coruña, Spain. Coordinadora will use SPMTs to roll the unit from the manufacturing yard up to the loading wharf. The company will load out the unit onto a semi-submersible barge, which will be towed to safe and sheltered waters before the Windfloat unit is discharged.
Windfloat has been designed and patented by Principle Power. This type of foundation enables wind turbines to be built in previously inaccessible locations where water depth exceeds 40 m.
