Combi Lift successfully completed lots one and two of complex multimodal transport project, delivering a complete chemical plant from Chennai port, India, to Proctor, West Virginia, USA, via the port of New Orleans.
Managed by Combi Lift, the project involved the transport of large, heavy cargo, including modules and process equipment, all manufactured in India. The heaviest package weighed 80 tonnes, while the largest measured 24 m in length and 6 m in height. The cargo was shipped from Chennai to Port NOLA, then transferred onto hopper and rake barges for the final leg to jett in Proctor.
The project faced challenges, including extreme weather. Hurricane Francine disrupted operations in New Orleans, but thanks to strong collaboration with our partners Combi Lift said that it ensured the safe and timely delivery of the cargo.
