Located south of Newbliss in County Monaghan, the wind farm is currently under construction by Energia Renewables, part of Energia Group. Prior to the commencement of deliveries, Collett undertook a trial run to identify potential challenges along the transportation route. This practical approach resulted in essential modifications, including tree pruning and adjustments to street furniture, Collett explained.

The company collaborated with Exceptional Load Services to secure the necessary permits and liaise with the local authorities, including coordinating with Garda escorts.

For the transport, Collett deployed its fleet of specialised trailers, utilising Nooteboom blade trailers for the transport of 65 m-long blades; flattop trailers for the additional 15 m-long blade tip; and tower clamp trailers for the various tower sections. The longest tower section measured 28 m long and the heaviest weighed 62 tonnes.

All components were loaded at Belview port in Waterford and transported during night-time deliveries to minimise traffic congestion, covering a distance of 199 miles (320.3 km).

The Drumlins Park wind farm, expected to be operational in 2024, will have an installed capacity of 49 MW.
