Collett & Sons has delivered eight lock gates destined for the Caledonian Canal in the Scottish highlands.
The gates were hauled by road from ECS Engineering in Mansfield to Fort Augustus.
The 6.3 m x 4.8 m wide steel gates were transported on Collett’s 45 ft (13.7 m) rear steer trailers under police and private escort to Goole heavy lift depot for stockpiling.
They were then transported in convoy towards Glasgow for overnight parking at Carin Lodge Services before reaching their final destination at Fort Augustus.
The ongoing project, which also includes the replacement of lock gates at Kytra and Cullochy, involves the installation of 24 new moorings. According to Collett, the company will continue to deliver more gates to the project during the canal's quiet season.
