Collett delivered the first four of a series of eight thermal storage tanks from its Goole heavy lift depot to London. All eight tanks were collected from Hartwell Manufacturing in Ossett and temporarily stored at Collett’s Goole depot, which allowed Hartwell to complete final amendments before onward delivery.

A combination of Collett’s gantry crane and crane vehicle were used, with the tanks reloaded onto two- and three-axle wafer bed trailers for transport. The tanks were initially moved in convoy to Toddington services, before being met by police escorts and reaching the London site in staggered deliveries.

The remaining four tanks are due to be delivered in the coming weeks, using the same procedure and route.

Last month, Collett carried out an extraction and transport project at a facility in Leeds.

In February, Collett carried out an extraction and transport project at a facility in Leeds which required jacking services, internal SPMT movement, and final transport. The scope of work included moving a 12-m long skid from the workshop floor to a packing facility in Manchester.

Collett’s team began with a jacking operation, lifting the 60-tonne cargo to a height of 1.2 m. This allowed a six-axle SPMT to move underneath and safely self-load. Hydraulic jacks and stools were then used to tranship the skid onto heavy-duty trailers, before moving to its final destination. This project was completed within 24 hours.

Last month, HLPFI reported that Collett had delivered 216 wind turbine components to Limekiln wind farm, in the Scottish Highlands.
