Chipolbrok’s multipurpose heavy lift vessel Qian Kun has delivered a range of heavy and oversize pieces from Antwerp and Hamburg to Chennai, India.
The carrier’s monthly liner service, which usually calls at European ports, Mumbai (India), before heading to the Far East, made an inducement call at Chennai.
Cargoes offloaded at Chennai included turbines, generators and accessories, the largest of which weighed 180 tonnes. The customer was Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) – an Indian state-owned engineering and manufacturing company.
The heavy components were discharged using Qian Kun’s 640-tonne lifting capacity cranes directly onto lowbed trailers, for onward delivery to the Indian hinterland.
