Chipolbrok’s multipurpose vessel Chipolbrok Galaxy has been busy picking up and delivering project cargo for projects in Europe, North Africa, the Suez Canal and Asia via the Suez Canal.
The vessel initially arrived into Antwerp, Belgium, where two mobile harbour cranes (MHCs) had to be loaded onto the deck. Weighing 353 tonnes and 359 tonnes, respectively, the MHCs were lifted onto Chipolbrok Galaxy from quayside to the vessel’s deck uising two onboard cranes in tandem lifts.
The lift was complicated by the MHC’s high centre of gravity and the weather deck was adjusted to compensate, which allowed for the vessel to sail from Antwerp to Tanger, Morocco.
Here, 73 pieces of machinery were loaded and Chipolbrok Galaxy continued onto Salerno, Italy. After the safe and precise lashings of two harbour cranes – each weighing 420 tonnes and measuring 66 m x 12 m x 40 m – the ship went on to Port Said in Egypt, before navigating the Suez Canal.
Once the initial MHCs, which were loaded in Antwerp, are discharged at Adabiya, Egypt, the harbour cranes picked up in Italy will be delivered to Mokpo, Korea.
In February 2025, HLPFI reported that Chipolbrok has been busy in Sweden lately as it looks to the country for further business.
