Groupe Cayon has handled the delivery of a transformer for an EDF substation in Gennevilliers, France.
The transformer measured 6.4 m in length and weighed 85 tonnes. It was transported to Gennevilliers along the Seine River before it was loaded on to six axles of Cometto MSPE self-propelled modular trailers.
Matthieu Lapczynski, project leader for special transport at Groupe Cayon, explained: “The Cometto MSPE picked up the transformer on arrival at the quay. Thanks to the overall length of just 11.45 m, we had no problem getting to the ship's mooring position.”
Along the route, the unit was reloaded onto a lowbed semi-trailer to pass under bridges. It was then placed back onto the MSPEs for the final leg of the journey to the project site.
Group Cayon took delivery of four self-propelled MSPE modules from Cometto last year, as HLPFI reported here.
