Trinidad and Tobago-based freight forwarder Cargo Consolidators Agency has handled air-cooled heat exchangers and accessories to support a plant turnaround project.
The time-sensitive shipment included 13 heat exchangers and 23 crates of accessories. Cargo Consolidators said its objective was to coordinate the transport, clearance and delivery to the site in the shortest possible time period.
Due to the readiness of the cargo, the shipment – totalling 2,921.66 cu m – was moved in four lots. Cargo Consolidators was responsible for coordinating the pickup from the supplier and booking the nominated shipping line for the transport from the port of Houston, USA.
The company also had to coordinate with the port and Customs for the delivery from the Point Lisas to Point Fortin with nominated hauliers. For the road transport, 13 heavy-duty extendable lowbed trailers were deployed, while six light-duty flatbed trucks were used for the accessories.
Cargo Consolidators added: “Due to the size of the freight, special arrangements for police escorts were required as was notice of transport via newspaper advertisements through the Municipal Corporations.”
