G2 Ocean’s general cargo vessel Star Kilimanjaro has delivered 27 wind turbine blades from China to the port of Vancouver USA for the Golden South wind energy project in Canada.
Manufactured by Goldwind, the blades measured 67 m in length and are destined for Potentia Renewable’s project in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan.
Jones Stevedoring will assist with the unloading of the components, which will be moved to a laydown space at the port’s Terminal 2 and Terminal 5. From there, they will be moved to the project site by Totran Transportation Services.
In total, the port will handle a 50 turbines for the project, including GW136, 4.2 MW models and the GW155, 4.2 MW model.
An additional five ships are due to arrive in the port later this year to deliver cargoes for the project including blades measuring up to 76.2 m – the longest blades the port has handled to date.
