Iraq’s Basra Gateway Terminal (BGT), in collaboration with DSV Panalpina and Al-Rashed United Shipping Services, has handled its largest oil and gas project cargo to date.

The shipment was for Basra Gas Company and included pieces measuring up to 70 m long and weighing up to 200 tonnes.

International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI) said that the terminal is well placed to service the region’s oil and gas sector. “As Iraq’s oil and gas sector continues to grow, BGT’s unmatched service places the terminal at the front and centre when it comes to responding to the region’s development requirements.

“With Shell recently announcing its latest venture in Iraq – capturing gas flaring and increasing productivity – BGT is the natural choice for the unique challenge of handling high value and extensive cargo volumes.”
